It includes personal stories and advice from young individuals who have experienced similar situations, such as Evie (aged 16), Cameron (aged 13), Jada (aged 6), and Zainen (aged 8).

The booklet is divided into different sections, each addressing a specific aspect of having a family member incarcerated. It aims to help readers understand and navigate the challenges they may face during this difficult time. Throughout the booklet, there are “How can Prisoners’ Families Support me?” boxes at the end of each section, offering tips on managing emotions and seeking support from family workers.

The PSS Prisoners’ Families team is highlighted as a source of support and advice for those with a family member in prison. Their role is to assist individuals in understanding the situation and finding ways to feel happier despite the circumstances.

Additionally, the booklet encourages readers to reach out for support, providing contact information for the Prisoners’ Families team in Merseyside and the Offenders Families National Helpline for individuals living outside of Merseyside.

The personal stories and advice shared by Evie, Cameron, Jada, Zainen, and their peers, as well as the contributions from the PSS Prisoners’ Families team, make this booklet a valuable resource for young individuals facing the challenges of having a family member in prison.
