Children’s Anxiety Tools Worksheet for Calm Coping

Printable worksheet titled Tools That Help Me with boxes for breathing, movement, calming and talking tools, plus a favourite tool prompt.

In everyday conversations about feelings, it can help children to notice which small actions make them feel calmer, safer or more able to cope. This printable anxiety worksheet gives kids a clear, friendly space to identify breathing, movement, calming and talking tools they can use when worries build.

When a child needs help naming what actually settles them, the sheet gives a simple way to build a personal coping toolbox. It is especially suited to younger children in primary school, as well as parents, carers, teachers, counsellors and pastoral staff supporting anxiety, worry or emotional regulation.

The page is organised into four large boxes: a breathing tool, a movement tool, a calming tool and a talking tool. Each section includes examples, such as balloon breathing, smelling the flower and blowing the candle, going for a walk, stretching or star jumps, listening to calming music, hugging a soft toy or blanket, and speaking to Mum, Dad, a trusted adult or a friend.

There is also a prompt for “My favourite tool is…” which encourages the child to choose the coping strategy they are most likely to remember and use. The closing affirmation, “I can find tools that help me,” supports a practical, confidence-building approach rather than asking children to explain everything verbally.

In practice, it could be used during a one-to-one wellbeing session, in a classroom calm corner, at home after a difficult moment, or as part of a child anxiety intervention plan. Children can draw, write or discuss their answers, making it useful for kids who prefer visual prompts as well as those who enjoy filling in worksheets.
